Adobe phishing surge: Stay vigilant!!

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The Bhutan Computer Incident Response Team (BtCIRT), a Government Technology Agency, would like to earnestly request the general public to avoid falling victim to phishing emails using Adobe InDesign.

Numerous Cyber Threat Intelligence agencies have uncovered and are warning about a recent surge in phishing attacks leveraging Adobe InDesign, a well-known and trusted document publishing system. According to a report from Barracuda, a cloud-first security solutions provider, there has been a nearly 30-fold increase since October in emails containing Adobe InDesign links. These emails carry legitimate brand logos and lure users into logging in to view or download documents, thereby deceiving them into providing their login credentials.

To protect ourselves from phishing attempts, BtCIRT advises taking the following measures:

  1. Handle Urgent Messages with Caution: Any SMS/email/WhatsApp message received with a tone of urgency should be dealt with extreme caution.
  2. Verify Suspicious Messages/Emails: Always reach out to the organization and verify suspicious messages/emails before taking any action on your end.
  3. Report Cybercrime Incidents: If you become a victim of cybercrime, contact us at +975-02-338606 or email us at cirt@btcirt.bt

Please remain vigilant and follow these guidelines to enhance your online security.
